Assim inicia a temporada de galas e prémios televisivos com a 81ª edição dos Globos de Ouro, um evento celebratório que insiste em provar à sua audiência a sua evolução neste céu estrelado denominado Hollywood, após as diversas controvérsias associadas ao seu nome. Sob nova gerência, tendo sido adquirida pela Dick Clark Productions, os Globos de Ouro sofreram diversas transformações, como a expansão do número de nomeados, de 5 para 6, e ainda a adição de duas novas categorias, como Melhor Blockbuster, cujos nomeados precisam de arrecadar cerca de 150 milhões de dólares nas bilheteiras para serem elegíveis, e Melhor Interpretação de Stand Up Comedy na Televisão, numa tentativa de renovar a cerimónia.
A gala, apresentada na noite de 7 de Janeiro pelo comediante Jo Koy, um anfitrião convidado “à última da hora” como o próprio referiu numa piada durante o seu monólogo inicial, demonstrou o poder do fenómeno Barbenheimer além das bilheteiras, com Oppenheimer a terminar a noite como o derradeiro vencedor, recebendo os prémios de Melhor Filme (Drama), Melhor Realizador para Christopher Nolan, Melhor Ator Principal para Cillian Murphy e Melhor Ator Secundário para Robert Downey Jr, e Barbie a triunfar nas categorias de Melhor Blockbuster e Melhor Canção Original.
Na categoria da televisão, destacam-se três obras principais, recebendo a maioria dos prémios nesta secção, como a última temporada de Succession, que recebeu Melhor Série (Drama), Ator Principal, Atriz Principal e Ator Secundário, a segunda temporada de The Bear, que venceu Melhor Série (Comédia), Melhor Ator Principal e Melhor Atriz Principal, e a minissérie Beef, que venceu melhor Minissérie ou Telefilme e ainda Melhor Ator Principal e Melhor Atriz Principal.
